  • ANNOUNCEMENT Position Paper on Corruption in the Philippines

Guided by truth in Love, the CHSAF Trustees and the SSpS Sisters jointly denounce all forms of corruption and reaffirm our commitment to honesty, transparency, and ethical leadership. We are sharing the full statement..

Position Paper on Corruption in the Philippines

“Speaking the Truth in Love” (Eph. 4:15)

Introduction

The CHS Alumni Foundation, Inc., composed of graduates of Holy Spirit schools guided by the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS), stands united in upholding the values of truth, justice, integrity, and love for God and country. We have been formed in faith and education that taught us that truth must be spoken and lived—not for condemnation, but for transformation.

In this spirit, we express our collective voice against the grave corruption that continues to afflict our beloved Philippines, recognizing it as a moral, social, and economic scourge that robs our people of dignity, equality, and hope.

The Reality of Corruption

Corruption in our country is not merely an issue of governance—it is a moral crisis. It pervades institutions, erodes trust, and perpetuates poverty. Funds meant for education, health, and social services are siphoned away by greed. Meritocracy is replaced with patronage. Leaders entrusted with power often betray the common good for personal gain.

The consequence is stark: millions of Filipinos remain trapped in cycles of poverty, disenfranchisement, and despair, while those who engage in corruption thrive without accountability.

Our Moral Stand

As alumni formed by the Holy Spirit tradition, we cannot remain silent. Silence in the face of corruption is complicity. Guided by the Gospel mandate and the SSpS sisters’ charism of Truth in Love, we declare:

  • Corruption is a sin against God and It violates the commandment to love one another and obstructs the common good.
  • Corruption undermines It weakens institutions meant to serve the people and obstructs genuine development.
  • Corruption perpetuates The poor suffer most when resources are stolen, services are neglected, and opportunities are denied.

Call to Action

In light of these realities, the CHS Alumni Foundation commits itself to:

  1. Advocate for truth, transparency, and accountability in both government and private institutions.
  2. Promote integrity in personal and professional life, becoming witnesses of honest leadership in our communities and workplaces.
  3. Support reforms and initiatives that strengthen institutions, safeguard public funds, and ensure that laws are enforced with fairness.
  4. Educate and form consciences—especially the young—towards rejecting corruption in all its forms and embracing servant leadership.
  5. Pray and act for moral renewal in our nation, believing that authentic

transformation begins in hearts rooted in God’s love.

Conclusion

Corruption is not destiny—it is a human choice, and it can be unlearned, resisted, and overcome. As children of the Holy Spirit, we are called to speak the truth in love, denouncing wrongdoing not with hatred, but with a steadfast commitment to justice, renewal, and reconciliation.

We therefore stand with all Filipinos who long for a society marked by truth, justice, and compassion. Guided by faith, and empowered by our education, we pledge to be

instruments of change, embodying the Spirit’s light in our country’s journey toward

integrity and hope.

We strongly urge our leaders in government to do the same!

For God, for country, and for our people, we speak: No to corruption. Yes to truth in love.
