In the wake of the powerful earthquake that struck Cebu, Philippines, on September 30, 2025, CHSAF responded with compassion and urgency and reached out to the SSpS Trinity Provincial House to see how we could help. While the convent sustained only minor cracks, our SSpS Sisters immediately turned their attention to those who were hardest hit.
Through CASA (Cebu Archdiocesan Social Action), they identified Gibitngil, a remote fishing island in Medellin, Cebu, where families were left sleeping in open spaces due to continuous aftershocks. Reaching this community meant a 3–4 hour boat ride.
Together with partner organizations, our Sisters prepared and delivered relief packs with canned goods, rice, medicines, and tents for 700 families. To support these efforts, CHSAF sent an emergency fund of ₱50,000 to help purchase essentials like tents, drinking water, food, and hygiene supplies.
Two of our very own, Sisters Maria Fe and Doyet, joined the relief mission on the ground.
With the Foundation’s support, the Sisters journeyed to a remote community, bringing not only aid but also hope and solidarity to families rebuilding their lives after the disaster.
Together with our SSpS Sisters, we remain ready to respond — Our commitment to compassion and solidarity knows no distance.
We are sharing photos from the mission to show how your support is making a difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters in need.
